We went to the beach today, and in addition to having lots of fun running, climbing, and splashing, I took a lot of pictures. Matt did as well, but this is my journal, so I'm showing off my work.

What do you think? I'm really interested in hearing everyone's opinion on this picture. I'm quite proud of it. |

My dogs always come when I call them, but my cats never seem to answer my summons.

Edit, December 27, 2005 16:47 These pictures ARE NOT to scale! Biscuit is in fact larger than both Cleo and Andy. |

- Waking up to the sound of race car engines, even though the track was over a mile away and the hotel windows were closed.
- Free promotional 128MB flash memory USB sticks.
- Having VIP access to all race facilities.
- Personal demonstration of the Champ Car simulators.
- Awesome steak, rolls, and desserts in the pit row suits.
- Two F-18s doing a flyby in a perfect arc across the race course.
- Getting my picture taken with the Tecate girls.
- Watching the pit crews do a complete tire change and refuel in literally seven seconds.
- Avoiding the rush of race traffic by taking a limo immediately after the race ended.
- Don telling the pilots to fly over Santa Barbara so I could get an aerial view of the campus.
- Coming home to enjoy a luxurious uninterrupted twelve-hours of sleep.

We all regret that its over, but CompCiv will be a part of all of our lives together. Those memories are worth more than anything to me. All 29 of us did something amazing this year, and we deserve to be proud of ourselves. We are the best team in California, and the only one that encourages casual nudity. Nothing we ever do will be just like this. Cherish these memories. No one can take them away from us. |

The pictures returned from Huygens so far have been absolutely amazing.
Dozens of rivers and tributaries can be seen on the surface, all leading to a dark sea. No one knows yet whether or not the sea is still liquid, but its very clear that it at one point was.

NASA and the ESA have released a couple of composite images so far, but they've so far been of a lower quality than those created by amateur scientists. These are two of the best amateur composites.

Here is the site I found the images on: http://anthony.liekens.net/index.php/Main/Huygens |

Well, some of you have wanted to know where I do most of my work. Here's a peek.
Notable features in this picture include: 1] The sub computer is on the white board spanning the gap between the chair and the top computer. The components you see are (from left to right) the CPU stack, the hard disk on top of the CD drive, and the power supply. There is another CD drive, but its dead. You can see the wire connecting from the stack to the monitor on the TV tray. It is running Debian GNU/Linux. 2] Zolton, the computer under the board, is my primary workstation. It is connected to the large monitor on the floor. Currently runs Windows 2000. 3] Fernando, my faithful laptop, is right below Zolton's monitor in the picture. Also runs Windows 2000. 4] The computer in the bottom right hand corner is Opus III. He's not really complete right now, but today I'm going to try to finish him up, and install Mandrake Linux 10. |
