Valentine's Day was awesome.
Yesterday afternoon I snuck into Emi's room while she was in class, and placed a beautiful boquet of roses and dasies on her desk. I also hid in the corner, and wished her happy Valentine's day when she found the flowers. She really loved them, which of course made me really happy. We hung out in her room for the next couple of hours until I had to take a math quiz.
After the quiz I rushed home to clean myself up, and then rushed over to pick up Emi. We were late getting to the resturaunt, but I managed to convince them to hold our reservation, so it all worked okay. We ate at Something's Fishy, a Japanese resturaunt in the same vein as Benihanna's, where they cook the food right in front of you. Everything they made was amazingly delicious; I ate just about every bite from every course, including Miso, Salad, Shrimp, Veggies, and of course Steak.
Even better than the food, however, was the fact that Emi loved it. I guess she'd gone there before, and it is one of her favorite places to eat on State Street.
After dinner we got ice cream at Coldstone. I had french vanilla mixed with peanut butter, caramel, and chocolate. It was amazing.
When we got back to campus we rented a movie (A Knight's Tale) but we were both so tired we fell right asleep before we even had a chance to put it on.
Overall it was a spectacular day, and I'm thankful I had Emi to share it with. |

Well, Allie called today to say that her Mock Trial team won, which means they're going to Florida for some sort of championship. It also means that she won't be able to come visit me in March, which is a major dissapointment. On the other hand, this does mean that I won't have to fight with Emi any more about Allie coming down. So I guess it's a wash. |

I fell asleep at Emi's last night after the Colbert Report. This morning when she got up to go to class I decided that I don't need to go today, so I trekked back to Manzanita and worked on my CS 10 homework instead.
I'm at work right now, and my boss brought the most adorable little golden retriever puppy in with him today. It literally pains me to restrain myself and stay in my chair in my office instead of running over to his office to play with Apollo.
So Microsoft gives out a lot of money in scholarships every year, and I think I could probably win one. The catch is if I do I'm committed to working for them for 12 weeks in Redmond. Now, as much as I dislike the company I wouldn't turn down the job for that reason. However, there are so many other things I want to do this summer that I'd feel really iffy about commiting to that right now. It could interfere with my plans to go to Hong Kong, and quite simply it would mean that I'd get to spend very little time in Pleasanton. I would also probably prevent me from going to San Diego for the sub competition.
Since I'm already missing Burning Man this year because of my Hong Kong trip I want to commit to going for sure in 2007. I know that's a long time from now, but I really want to make it happen. |

Everything is awesome.
Last weekend was super sweet. I don't want to write up all the details, but suffice it to say that even after driving a thousand miles in the span of four days I had a fucking awesome time. Shout-outs to Jessie, Kristina, Nicole, Janet, James, Ladd, Allie, Erika, MeMe, Sophia, Anne-Marie, Carlo, and Siarah. And of course when I got back to school last night I was immediately greeted by the wonderful news that Emi had purchased some Triple Sec, so I went over to San Nic and we had cocktails.
This week is going to be a bit iffy: I have three programming assignments due, a math midterm, and various other scholarly requirements. I can deal, though.
I think I'm going to be able to Sow another Seed of Empire this week, too, which will be great news if everything works out.
I brought my suit down, and I'll probably be wearing it to the TriDelta date party this weekend. I like wearing my suit, but I'm going to try to resist the urge to buy a new shirt or tie to go with it.
We're planning a Vegas trip in addition to the Mexico trip. No word on dates yet for either of them, considering they'll be moderately expensive and that I'm broke and tired of driving, it'll probably be Winter or Spring quarter before we actually go, but it's still going to be awesome. Emi has never been to Vegas before.
SHDH6 is coming up on December 10th, and as long as my finals schedule permits I'll be able to attend. Today an idea for a quick and simple software project struck me, which I might try to develop that night. I think I'm also going to do a geek pitch for Barracuda and AUVAI/AVI. I think it'll be at the very least interesting for the other geeks there, and I'm hoping that by doing the presentation I'll be motivated enough to get back involved and start coding again. |

Yesterday was pretty awesome, overall.
In the morning I got out of bed and over to trailer 387-101 for my CS 20 midterm. The entire test was cake; I finished in fifteen minutes. I then went over to get some breakfast at Ortega, cause I was actually awake and not in class during breakfast hours. They have bagels! I ate many, with cream cheese.
After eating I meandered over to Engineering I for my math lecture, but I ended up sleeping through the entire thing. After class was over Zac told me that I had been snoring. Whoops.
After my nice nap I went back to Manzanita and did some email and showered. Then I got on the 'cycle and headed across campus to work. Although I'm peeved about using PHP instead of Perl, work is still going well overall.
I snuck off work half an hour early to take care of a couple of errands, including picking up a vase and roses for Emi. At 3 I made my way to San Nic, and wished Emi a happy birthday. She had already been visited by her TriDelta sisters who had brought champagne, and her mom had gifted her a marvelous cheesecake.
We quickly grabbed Heather and Wei out of the hall to come join us as we drank champagne and ate cheesecake. Of course, Emi only has one wine glass, so we all ended up sharing it. Heather, impatient as always, just drank it from the bottle. The party broke up after just an hour or so because both Heather and I had to get to class.
After Writing ended I went back over to San Nic, and dragged Heather to the bus stop where we met Emi. We took her to this very nice Italian place where I had the best food I've had since coming here: a medium-rare cheeseburger on fresh Italian sourdough.
We finally left the resturaunt around eleven, and ended up back at the UCen. Here we just lounged around and threw paper airplanes for about an hour, and then everyone went to sleep. |

Sometimes the music I list on these entries relates very closely to what I'm writing about or feeling, and other times it has nothing to do with it at all.
I'd also really like it if I could list multiple songs for an entry. It'd also be cool to have a field for current weather, and other things like that. I think some of that could actually be important meta-data for an entry.
So for the most part this weekend has competly rocked. Starting Thursday night and ending sometime this afternoon I spent a TON of time with Emi, and on the whole it kicked ass.
This weekend also saw the success of AMA's roadtrip, which she deserves both huge props for pulling off and congrats for finally making some major progress with her parents.
I also found out a lot of shit about a lot of people, some much more shocking than others. Honestly though it's all good, and none of it's gonna keep me down.
Plus I made hella money on the markets on Friday.
If anyone wants to know more about anything I alluded to in this entry feel free to ask; I'll either tell you or I won't.
Alright, I've got a paper due tomorrow, which again hasn't been started. I've also got a math midterm on Friday, which is bad news because I suck at Calculus. Wish me luck! Have an awesome night! |
